Katsina State Police Command has announced the arrest of two suspects who specialised in vandalising transformers and stealing armoured cables in the State.
The suspects who were paraded on Monday were identified as 18-year-old Sama’ila Abubakar and Mubarak Salisu, 21 from Higi village in Bindawa Local Government Area of Katsina.
They were arrested after stealing some armoured cables by a team of policemen following a tip-off.
During interrogation, they confessed to have stolen the transformer and the armoured cable from Karkawu village under Bindawa LGA of the State.
The culprits were almost successfully conveying the stolen items to Abuja for sale when they were arrested by the police, Superintendent of Police Isah Gambo said.
The police spokesman said that in the course of the preliminary investigations, the suspects revealed that the cable was being sold at the rate of N3, 000 per kilo in Abuja.
