The Osun State Police Command has paraded two men, identified as Olugbode Joshua and Akinleye Ayodeji, for alleged armed robbery, membership in unlawful society and cultism.
According to DailyPost, suspects were paraded at the police headquarters in Osogbo on Wednesday.
The command spokesperson, Yemisi Opalola said the duo were arrested in different areas of Osogbo.
Opalola noted 22-year-old Joshua, a member of Black Axe confraternity notorious for terrorising Osogbo and its environs, was arrested after his gang invaded a store at Ita-Olokan area of Osogbo with guns and other dangerous weapons.
She said, “On 29th July, 2024, the suspect popularly known as Oole a notorious member of Black Axe confraternity also known as Aye confraternity who has been terrorizing Osogbo metropolis and environs along with his deadly gang invaded the store of the complainant at Alaagba’s compound area, Ita-Olokan, Osogbo with guns and other dangerous weapons, inflicted various degree of injuries on the complainant and the customers and went away with two iphones.
“Upon the report, the team of the Anti-cultism unit immediately swung into action and arrested the suspect on 8th August, 2024.”
She said the suspect will be charged to court after investigation.
Opalola also said 25-year-old Ayodeji, also a member of the Black Axe confraternity known as Devil, was arrested on Thursday, August 8, 2024.
The PPRO said Devil and his gang were notorious for terrorizing Egbatedo area of Osogbo and its environs.
“On 8th August, 2024, upon information that there was a cult clash at Gbemu Area, Osogbo, the Anti-cultism team of the Command swiftly moved to the area and arrested the suspect one Akinleye Ayodeji, member of Black Axe confraternity, popularly known as ‘Devil’, one of the notorious cultists who has been terrorizing Egbatedo and other parts of Osogbo while others escaped on sighting the police.
“Meanwhile, the police are on their trail for possible arrest and prosecution.”
The suspect, the police said, will be charged to court after the completion of investigation.
Meanwhile, the Osun State Police Command has advised residents of the state to be more vigilant by reporting strange happenings around them to the nearest law enforcement agents.
