The Niger State Police Command has arrested three suspects in connection with separate housebreaking and theft incidents in Suleja and Bida, recovering a large cache of stolen household items.

In a statement on Monday, Police Public Relations Officer Wasiu Abiodun said the first suspect, Ahmed Jibril, was arrested following reports from 13 residents in the Rafin-Senyi/Kwata area of Suleja. The residents alleged that between November 2025 and January 2026, Jibril repeatedly broke into their homes and stole valuables.

“During interrogation, he confessed to the series of house breaking and theft cases,” Abiodun stated. The suspect led police to an uncompleted house belonging to his father in Suleja, where numerous stolen items were recovered.

The recovered exhibits include bed mattresses, gas cylinders, wardrobes, fans, kitchen appliances, hand tools, clothing, and other household goods, all identified by the victims. Jibril also admitted to selling some stolen items to receivers in Madalla. Efforts are ongoing to arrest the receivers.

In a separate case in Bida, suspect Sani Ndagi, 25, was arrested for breaking into a house in the GRA area on January 23 and stealing a giant power generator, two medium generators, and two air conditioner compressors. All stolen items were recovered.

Additionally, 45-year-old Aliyu Umar was arrested for receiving one of the stolen air conditioner compressors.

Both suspects in the Bida case are in custody, and investigations are ongoing. They will be charged to court upon completion of the investigation.
