Police arrest three notorious kidnappers, rescue victim in Niger

Three suspected kidnappers have been nabbed by the police in Niger state.

The notorious kidnappers were arrested in Zuzungi village, Katcha Local Government Area of the state by the command’s Anti-kidnapping Squad Unit.

They were identified as Aminu Usman, 30; Mansir Yusuf, 32; and Halilu Ibrahim, 30; all from Dangana village in Lapai Local Government Area of the state

Their arrest follows a complaint by one Saidu Musa of Dangana village, Lapai that unknown hoodlums invaded his Camp and kidnapped his 60-year-old mother, Zainab Musa, to an unknown destination.

He alleged that they demanded N5m ransom for her release.

Based on the information, the command went after the suspects and apprehended three. It was gathered also that one of the kidnappers was injured by a Fulani man at the heat of argument before they were arrested.

One of the suspects, Usman told our correspondent that he was told by one man to kidnap their victim in order to raise money to start his undisclosed business.

“I am an ex-convict, I have been tried on cattle rustling before I joined the kidnapping business to raise money for my business but was caught on the process,” he stated.

The Niger State Police Public Relations Officer, Muhammad Abubakar, confirmed that the victim was rescued.

According to Abubakar, the suspects confessed to have conspired with four others now at large to kidnap their victim, adding that the suspects would soon be arraigned in court after investigation.
