The Bauchi State Police Command has arrested several suspects in connection with alleged armed robbery, homicide and cybercrime cases across different parts of the state.

The Command’s spokesman, SP Nafiu Habib, disclosed this in a statement issued on Saturday, explaining that the arrests followed investigations into recent complaints lodged at various police divisions.

In Darazo Local Government Area, three suspects — Aminu Musa, 20; Yusuf Sunusi, 20; and Abdullahi Ahmad, 22 — were apprehended over alleged attacks and robbery incidents in Unguwar Jarmai.

Police said three residents of Rigar Garba Village reported that they were assaulted on February 9 and 11 and dispossessed of three mobile phones valued at N104,000.

The alleged gang leader, Saifullahi Hussaini, also known as “Ramos,” and other accomplices are still at large.
In Alkaleri LGA, two suspects — Abdulmumini Ibrahim, 28, and Ya’u Malam Halilu, 25 — were arrested in connection with a shop robbery reported by Danjuma Ibrahim and Ali Mukhtar of Tabanni Village.

The complainants alleged that armed men stormed their shops at about 1:30 a.m. on February 11, fired gunshots into the air and carted away crates of soft drinks, clothing materials and other goods.

Police said the suspects were found with the stolen items and confessed, naming three other accomplices who are currently on the run.

The Command also confirmed the arrest of Mohammed Hassan, 32, in connection with the death of Hassan Malam Gurgu, who was found unconscious with a head injury in Shira-Yana LGA and later pronounced dead at the General Hospital in Yana. Investigations are ongoing.

In a separate case, police arrested Istifanus Mela, 55, over alleged cyberbullying and criminal intimidation following a complaint of a death threat received by a resident of Warra Village in Alkaleri LGA.
The Commissioner of Police, Sani-Omolori Aliyu, assured residents of the Command’s commitment to ensuring the safety of lives and property, urging the public to continue providing useful information to security agencies.
