The Delta State Police Command has arrested a 25-year-old man, Musa Buhari, over the abduction and killing of a commercial motorcyclist, 53-year-old Friday Orumgbe, from Idumu Oza in Agbor, Ika South Local Government Area.
Police spokesperson, SP Bright Edafe, said in a statement on Thursday that Buhari was arrested on October 16, 2025, after detectives recovered the victim’s mobile phone from him.
According to Edafe, a missing person’s report had earlier been filed at the Agbor Police Division on October 7, after Orumgbe, who left home on October 6 with his Lifan motorcycle, failed to return.
“Following the report, the Divisional Police Officer, CSP Michael Obekpa, ordered a detailed investigation,” Edafe said. “During questioning, the suspect confessed that he and one other man, identified as Manu Usman, now on the run, posed as passengers and lured the victim to a bush along Power Line near Oki, Agbor. They attacked him with a hoe, leaving him unconscious before stealing his motorcycle and phone.”
He added that, based on the confession, police operatives led Buhari to the crime scene on October 17, where the decomposed body of the victim was discovered. The remains were later identified by family members and deposited at the Central Hospital Mortuary, Agbor, for autopsy.
Edafe confirmed that the suspect is in custody while efforts are ongoing to arrest his accomplice.
The state Commissioner of Police, Abaniwonda Olufemi, commended the officers for their professionalism and swift action.
He said, “The Command will continue to strengthen intelligence-led and community-based policing to ensure the protection of lives and property across Delta State.”
