The Gombe State Police Command has arrested a 39-year-old man in connection with alleged criminal conspiracy, housebreaking and theft in Akko Local Government Area of the state.
The suspect, identified as Ibrahim Mohd of Kagarawal Quarters, Gombe, was apprehended in the early hours of January 23, 2026, following intelligence supplied by a concerned resident.
Confirming the development, the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), DSP Buhari Abdullahi, said the command received credible information around 4:00am about the activities of suspected burglars operating within Bomala Quarters in Akko Local Government Area.
“Acting promptly on the tip-off, police operatives stormed the area and apprehended the suspect after he allegedly broke into a residential building and stole valuable items,” Abdullahi said.
He explained that a Haojue Lucky motorcycle, ash in colour, bearing registration number JMT 523 UC, which had been reported stolen, was recovered during the operation.
According to the police spokesperson, the motorcycle, valued at about ₦750,000, was found in the possession of the suspect at the time of his arrest.
Abdullahi further disclosed that preliminary investigations indicated that the suspect confessed to the crime and mentioned another accomplice, identified as Dauda Maigadgi, who is currently at large.
“The suspect admitted his involvement in the burglary and also confessed to several cases of phone theft within Gombe metropolis,” Abdullahi stated.
He added that the suspect is being detained at the State Criminal Investigation Department, while efforts are ongoing to apprehend other members of the suspected criminal gang.
