The Lagos State Police Command has arrested six suspected members of a notorious “one chance” robbery syndicate allegedly operating around Ago Palace Way in Okota, Lagos State.
This was contained in a statement released on Sunday by the state police Public Relations Officer, SP Abimbola Adebisi.
According to the command, the suspects were intercepted during a stop-and-search operation conducted by operatives along Ago Palace Way while travelling in a tricycle with registration number AAA 720 QL, allegedly attempting to rob unsuspecting commuters.
On sighting officers, the suspects reportedly abandoned the vehicle and attempted to flee the scene. A cutlass allegedly used for their operations and a mobile phone were recovered at the scene.
The suspects were later identified as Basiru Rilwan, 23; Afeez Akeem, 25; Ademola Yekeen, 20; Sodipo Oyeyemi, 27; Ayomide Gafar; and Fabayo Michael, 28.
Further search led to the discovery of a dummy pistol allegedly used in carrying out their criminal activities.
The Lagos State Police Command stated that it will maintain its commitment to sustaining proactive policing strategies aimed at combating crime and ensuring the safety of residents across the state. Members of the public are encouraged to continue providing timely and credible information to aid ongoing efforts. The suspects will be charged to court on completion of investigation.
