Police arrest six suspected cable vandals in Bauchi

The Bauchi State Police Command has arrested six suspects for alleged involvement in vandalism and theft in the state.

The Police Public Relations Officer, Ahmed Mohammed Wakil, confirmed the arrests in a statement on Tuesday.

He said police officers on patrol arrested Hamza Mohammed (20) and Mustapha Sa’idu (22) on December 25, 2024, for allegedly stealing vehicle tires and cement in Bauchi.

“The suspects confessed to trespassing and stealing the items, which are valued at N249,000,” Wakil said.

Further investigations showed that the same suspects, along with Aliyu Musa, were also involved in the vandalism of electrical equipment belonging to Jos Electricity Distribution Company on January 14, 2025.

According to the police, the suspects planned to sell the stolen electric conductor to Al-Ameen Ibrahim.
