Police operatives in Nasarawa State have arrested six suspected kidnappers and rescued three abducted persons during an operation in Lafia East Development Area of the state.

The suspects were arrested after police officers attached to the Assakio Division, working with local vigilantes, raided kidnappers’ hideouts in Angara and Fadaman Bauna villages.

The victims, two females and one male, were rescued unhurt, treated immediately and reunited with their families.

Confirming the development in a statement issued in Lafia on Friday, the Police Public Relations Officer of the Nasarawa State Command, SP Ramhan Nansel, said the operation followed a complaint received earlier in the week.

He said, “This operation followed a complaint lodged on 07/01/2026, reporting that suspected kidnappers invaded Angara village and abducted two females, leaving behind an infant, and later kidnapped another male in the same village.”

Nansel explained that swift action by the police led to the breakthrough.

“Acting on this information, the Commissioner of Police, Nasarawa State Command, CP Shetima Jauro Mohammed, immediately ordered a manhunt for the perpetrators, which culminated in the successful arrest of the suspects and the rescue of the victims,” he said.

According to the police spokesman, the suspects have confessed to the crime and have been moved to the State Criminal Investigation Department for further investigation.

He added that the transfer was done on the directive of the commissioner of police to ensure proper investigation and prosecution of the suspects.

The police commissioner assured residents of Nasarawa State that the command would continue its fight against kidnapping and other criminal activities.

“The Command remains committed to sustaining its onslaught against all forms of criminality across the state,” Nansel said.
