Police arrest seven cattle thieves in Jigawa

The Jigawa State Police Command has arrested seven suspects believed to be involved in cattle theft.

Police spokesperson, Lawal Shiisu, confirmed the arrests in a statement on Wednesday in Dutse.

Shiisu said two of the suspects were caught on Tuesday during a patrol by police and other security agencies in Kirdau village, Ringim Local Government Area.

He explained, “On Tuesday, November 26, 2024, at about 3 p.m., a combined team of police and other security agencies intercepted a vehicle loaded with three cows and 11 sheep. The driver and his assistant later confessed that they stole the animals.”

During interrogation, the two suspects revealed the names of five accomplices who were later arrested in the Unguwa Uku area of Kano State.

“All the five suspects have confessed to committing the offence and will be charged to court upon completion of our discreet investigation,” Shiisu added.

The police assured the public of their commitment to tackling crimes and protecting lives and property in the state.
