The Kwara State Police Command has arrested a suspected serial transformer vandal, identified as Samson Ayodele, in Eruku town, Ekiti Local Government Area of the state.

Ayodele, who resides on Skyway Road in Egbe, Kogi State, was reportedly caught by officers from the Eruku Police Division on November 3, 2025, around 5:50 p.m., while vandalizing the transformer supplying electricity to Koro town.

The spokesperson for the state command, SP Adetoun Ejire Adeyemi, said in a statement on Thursday that items recovered from the suspect included three copper wire bars, one fuse, two connection wire bars, two wooden covers, two aluminium wires, several bolts and nuts, a bag of tools, and a digital scale.

During questioning, Ayodele allegedly confessed to the crime and admitted that he had earlier been arrested, charged, and jailed in Kogi State for similar offences but returned to vandalism after his release.

The Commissioner of Police, Adekimi Ojo, praised the alertness of IBEDC staff and the swift response of the Eruku Division officers, promising continued protection of public utilities across the state.

“Acts of vandalism that cripple essential services will never be tolerated in Kwara State,” Ojo said. “The command will keep working closely with communities and service providers to identify and arrest offenders wherever they operate.”

The police command also advised residents to remain alert and report any suspicious movement around public facilities to the nearest police station.
