The Federal Capital Territory police in Abuja have arrested an armed robbery suspect and recovered a stolen car along with dangerous weapons.

The arrest took place on Saturday, August 17, 2024, around 12 p.m., after the police responded quickly to information about a stolen Toyota Corolla.

According to the FCT police spokesperson, SP Josephine Adeh, the Toyota Corolla, with registration number ABC 258 LD, was originally snatched at gunpoint on May 2, 2024, along the Kuje-Airport road.

With the help of digital intelligence, the police tracked the vehicle to Ifego Guest Inn in Jabi, where it was found in the possession of a suspect named Michael Uke.

“The suspect had replaced the registration number on the vehicle with another, reading Reg No: AGD 146 JP,” SP Adeh explained.

During the search, the police found several items in the suspect’s possession, including a POS machine, a knife, glass-dissolving chemicals, a military jungle hat, and the original registration number of the vehicle.

SP Adeh noted that the investigation is still ongoing. Meanwhile, the Commissioner of Police for the FCT, CP Benneth Igweh, reaffirmed the command’s strong commitment to protecting the lives and properties of residents in the area.

He also urged residents to report any suspicious activities to the police using the emergency lines: 08032003913, 08028940883, 08061581938, and 07057337653.
