The police in Rivers State have arrested a General Overseer of a church in Eagle Island and Diobu, Port Harcourt, over allegations of homosexuality.
The cleric, popularly known as Elijah, is being investigated by the Octopus Strike Force unit of the Nigeria Police Force.
According to reports, the pastor was exposed after a male acquaintance, identified as Patrick, recorded and leaked videos of him engaging in homosexual acts.
Patrick, who had been the target of the pastor’s advances, reportedly played along to gather evidence.
Police officers, acting on credible intelligence, tracked the General Overseer to a relaxation spot in Port Harcourt, where he was arrested.
A source close to the investigation said the pastor allegedly confessed to multiple acts of homosexuality involving both male adults and minors within and outside Port Harcourt.
The Rivers State Police Command spokesperson, SP Grace Iringe Koko, confirmed the arrest and said an investigation is ongoing.
