Police arrest man for faking own kidnap

Published

The Federal Capital Territory Police Command has officially confirmed the apprehension of one Nnamdi Agu, who stands accused of orchestrating a fraudulent self-kidnapping scheme to exploit his own family members.

In a statement issued on Saturday night, the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Josephine Adeh, vehemently refuted reports suggesting a kidnapping incident at River Park Estate, Lugbe.

In her statement, SP Josephine Adeh clarified, “Contrary to reports, nobody was kidnapped in River Park Estate. One Nnamdi Agu ‘m’ of Games Village only faked his own kidnap in an attempt to defraud his brother who lives within the said Estate.”

She further added, “The suspect is currently in police custody undergoing interrogation. While an investigation is still ongoing, further development would be communicated to the public.”

This confirmation sheds light on the deceptive actions undertaken by Nnamdi Agu, who allegedly staged his own kidnapping with the intention of extorting money from his brother, a resident of River Park Estate.

As the investigation progresses, the FCT Police Command assures the public that additional details will be shared in due course.
