The Lagos State Police Command has arrested a 23-year-old man, Gbolahan Adebayo, for allegedly beating his 25-year-old girlfriend to death at his home in Ijedodo, Alimosho area of Lagos.
A neighbor reported the incident to the Isheri Osun Police Division on February 23, stating that on February 21, around 8:00 p.m., he witnessed Adebayo assaulting his girlfriend for reasons yet to be determined.
Later that evening, Adebayo was heard screaming for help, prompting the neighbor to rush into his apartment, where the girlfriend was found unconscious on the bed with visible injuries on her body.
Confirming the incident, the spokesperson for the Lagos State Police Command, Benjamin Hundeyin, said the victim was taken to a hospital in Ijegun, where the doctor on duty confirmed her death.
“The suspect has been arrested, and an investigation is ongoing,” Hundeyin said.
The victim’s body has been deposited at the Infectious Diseases Hospital (IDH) morgue in Yaba for an autopsy.
In a separate incident, the police foiled an armed robbery, arrested a suspect, and recovered a stolen vehicle in Sango, Otta, Ogun State.
According to the police, an Uber driver reported to the Isokoko Police Division on February 22, around 9:23 p.m., that a passenger, identified as Kelvin Musa, had boarded his Toyota Camry at Nitel, along Old Abeokuta Motor Road, Agege, for a trip to the Marriott Hotel in the Government Reserved Area, Ikeja.
The driver explained that when they reached Ile-Zik, the passenger suddenly pulled out a sharp knife, stabbed him multiple times, and drove off with his car.
Police officers tracked the vehicle to Oshodi, where the suspect was intercepted and arrested. The stolen car was recovered and taken to the station, while the injured driver was rushed to the hospital for treatment.
