Operatives of the Delta State Police Command have apprehended four individuals suspected of armed robbery and recovered two firearms during separate patrol and stop-and-search operations in Asaba.

The command disclosed that the arrests were made on April 23, 2026, by personnel of the Rapid Response Squad (RRS) and the Crack Squad as part of intensified policing strategies aimed at curbing violent crimes and dismantling criminal networks.

In a statement issued on Friday, the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Bright Edafe, revealed that RRS operatives on routine stop-and-search duty along Ugbolu/Asaba Road intercepted a suspect, Chinoso Igwemma, 28, whose behaviour aroused suspicion.

He explained that a search conducted on the suspect led to the discovery of a locally fabricated Beretta pistol.

“The timely intervention of the operatives averted a potential violent crime. The suspect is currently in custody and under investigation,” the statement said.

In another operation, officers of the Crack Squad on patrol in the Bonsaac area of Asaba stopped a tricycle conveying three male passengers identified as Umuadi Benjamin Chinecherem, 30; Nwabueze Kelvin, 28; and Okonkwo Celestine, 30.
