The Ogun State Police Command has arrested four suspects linked to the killing of a barber by suspected cultists in Abeokuta, the state capital.
The Commissioner of Police, Abiodun Alamutu, announced that the arrests were made following a similar attack on Friday night. In that incident, a 48-year-old Point Of Service (POS) operator, Fatai Kehinde, was killed under the Kuto bridge in Abeokuta.
Fatai Kehinde, known as Faity, was the son of the Baale of Kuto Community. He was reportedly attacked by his assailants, who chased him from his shop in the Kuto market to the bridge where he was killed.
“We have successfully arrested four people in connection with the killing of the barber by some suspected cultists a few days ago,” Commissioner Alamutu said.
He added, “We are also on the trail of others, and this is just to say that there is no hiding place for criminals in the state. We will apprehend everyone involved in the killings and make them answer for their actions.”
Cultism and related violence have been major issues in Ogun State. Despite efforts by the police to offer amnesty to cultists and other criminals to leave their groups, the problem persists.
