The Rivers State Police Command has arrested four suspects, including a native doctor, in connection with the ritual killing of two siblings, Chizaram and Chidinma Onuche.

The suspects, identified as Aniekan Sunday Uko, 27; Luis John Uwelemele, 19; Kingsley Opurum, 43; and Friday Silas, 47, were apprehended on March 23, 2025, following a report received by the Special Area Division.

According to the police spokesperson, SP Grace Iringe-Koko, “Uko lured the victims to his location, drugged them using a drink known as Black Bullet, and subsequently slaughtered them, collecting their blood in a bottle.”

She added that the native doctor, Opurum, was implicated in the murder and that key evidence was recovered, including “a kitchen knife identified as the murder weapon, a bottle filled with the victims’ blood, an empty can of Black Bullet, and a spoon used to collect the victims’ blood.”

Iringe-Koko stated that Uko confessed to getting involved in the ritual killing after visiting the native doctor and witnessing him perform similar rituals for others in exchange for wealth.

“The native doctor instructed him to provide fresh human remains and blood for ritualistic purposes,” she said.

Meanwhile, the Commissioner of Police in Rivers State, Olugbenga Adepoju, assured that justice would be served and that all those involved would be prosecuted.

“During the operation, law enforcement officers recovered key evidence, including a bottle containing the drained blood of the victims,” he said.

The police urged residents to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities to the nearest police station, emphasising that the safety and security of all citizens remain a top priority.
