The Ekiti State Police Command has arrested an ex-convict, Omowaye Ayodele, and two other suspects, Ojo Temidayo and Busarí Lookman, in connection with the killing and kidnapping of Point of Sale operators in Ado Ekiti.

Commissioner of Police Adeniran Akinwale announced the arrests in a statement released on Sunday by the command’s Police Public Relations Officer, Sunday Abutu.

According to CP Akinwale, the suspects confessed to their involvement in the death of a woman, Aina Adeyemi.

Adeyemi was robbed and shot dead at the Federal Polytechnic Satellite Campus area in Ado Ekiti.

Ayodele admitted, “Myself and my gang members have attacked and robbed different PoS operators at various locations in Ado Ekiti such as Bawa Estate Area and Better Life Area.”

The police quickly responded to the scene after Adeyemi’s murder, deploying the Rapid Response Squad. Their investigation led to the arrest of Ayodele. During questioning, Ayodele revealed that Temidayo and Lookman were also involved in the crime.

“Ayodele said that Lookman robbed and shot the victim while he and Temidayo were nearby, keeping watch and describing the victim to Lookman,” CP Akinwale said.

Lookman confessed that he shot Adeyemi and stole N155,000 from her. He also mentioned another suspect, Sunday Onyema, who is currently on the run. Lookman said he gave the stolen money to Ayodele, who then shared N50,000 with him. Temidayo admitted to being an Indian hemp seller and a fraudster.

The police are still investigating the case and are working to arrest Onyema, who is believed to be in possession of the weapons used in the crimes.

Ayodele, who was released from prison in May 2024, was previously involved in kidnapping Prof. Femi Olaofe, a former Deputy Vice-Chancellor of Ekiti State University. Olaofe’s body was later found in a shallow grave.

The suspects are undergoing investigation and will be charged in court.
