Police arrest eight suspects in connection with UNIMAID lecturer’s murder

The police in Borno State have confirmed the arrest of eight suspects linked to the murder of Dr. Kamar Abdulkadir, a lecturer from the Department of Physical Health Education at the University of Maiduguri, UNIMAID.

Dr. Abdulkadir was tragically killed in his office on the campus on Sunday by assailants who entered his office unnoticed. His body was discovered on Monday, showing signs of inflicted injuries.

According to the Police Public Relations Officer, Nahun Daso, the attackers not only took the life of the lecturer but also stole his vehicle, phone, and laptop.

“We reviewed the CCTV camera and saw them going out of the university with the deceased’s vehicle. However, the quality of the video was very poor, so we could not see the number they were inside the car,” Daso said.

He assured the public that investigations are ongoing to bring the perpetrators to justice.

In response to the incident, Prof. Danjuma Gambo, the Director of Radio and Public Relations, representing the Vice Chancellor of UNIMAID, Prof. Abdullahi Shugaba, stated that both the police and other security agencies have initiated investigations into the matter to uncover the circumstances surrounding Dr. Abdulkadir’s death.

Prof. Gambo emphasized the university’s commitment to ensuring the safety and security of its staff and students.

He urged everyone to remain calm and continue with their regular activities, assuring parents, guardians, and stakeholders that the campus remains a safe environment for teaching, learning, and community service.
