The Kano State Police Command has arrested a Government House driver, Ya’u Inuwa, over the theft of a white Toyota Hilux belonging to the Kano State Government.

The vehicle, which was attached to the Governor’s Advance Team, was reported missing from the Government House on November 11, 2025.

Confirming the arrest, the police spokesperson, Abdullahi Haruna, said the 50-year-old suspect confessed to conspiring with two others, who are still at large, to steal the vehicle.

Haruna said the State Commissioner of Police, Ibrahim Bakori, ordered the closure of all entry and exit points in the state to ensure the recovery of the vehicle and the arrest of those involved.

“Following sustained follow-up and intelligence-led investigation, one Ya’u Inuwa, a 50-year-old driver in the Government House, was arrested in connection with the theft. The vehicle was recovered in Unguwa Uku, Yan Awaki Quarters, Kano, and is currently in police custody,” Haruna said.

He added that efforts are ongoing to arrest the other suspects still on the run.
