The Nigeria Police Force has arrested several suspects involved in drug supply to bandits, arms smuggling, drug trafficking, and currency counterfeiting across different states.

Among those arrested is a female gunrunner caught with live ammunition hidden inside a container of palm oil.

The Force Public Relations Officer, ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, confirmed the arrests in a statement on Tuesday, saying the police acted based on intelligence gathered by the Force Intelligence Department-Special Tactical Squad (FID-STS).

According to the statement, three suspects—Alhaji Usman Yahaya (50), Joseph Matthew (27), and Solomon Bala (25)—were caught in Potiskum, Yobe State, transporting 30 cartons of codeine syrup and other hard drugs meant for bandits, Boko Haram insurgents, and kidnappers.

“The suspects confessed that the drugs were meant for criminals operating in Yobe State and neighboring countries,” the police statement read.

In another arrest, 30-year-old Hauwa Sani, a resident of Doro village, was intercepted along the Keffi/Abuja Expressway with 124 rounds of live ammunition hidden inside a five-litre container of palm oil.
“She confessed that one Nasiru of Daura sent her to deliver the ammunition to Katsina State,” the statement added.

On February 3, 2025, police operatives arrested Yusuf Dantani (24), Usman Labaran (32), and Musa Mohammed (23) with 10 AK-47 rifles in their possession.

“The suspects admitted to being involved in arms deals and had received N3,980,000 for their last transaction,” the police said.

The Nigeria Police Force has assured citizens that it will continue to disrupt criminal networks and bring offenders to justice.

“We urge the public to support our efforts by providing timely and accurate information that can help prevent crime,” the police stated.
