The Anambra State Police Command has arrested a man identified as Oluchukwu Anyaoku after a viral video showed him making violent threats and vowing to destroy police stations in Obosi, Idemili North Local Government Area.

The police spokesman, Tochukwu Ikenga, announced the arrest in a statement on Wednesday. He said officers attached to the Obosi Division picked up the suspect on Tuesday after the video started circulating online.

Ikenga said, “The Anambra State Police Command has arrested one Oluchukwu Anyaoku, following the emergence of a viral online video in which the suspect was allegedly issuing threats of violence and vowing to destroy all police formations in Obosi, Idemili North LGA.”

He explained that officers quickly traced and detained the suspect for questioning. According to him, the operatives also found a firearm and a cutlass on the suspect at the time of his arrest.

Ikenga added, “The police operatives attached to the Obosi Division on December 2, 2025 acted immediately after intercepting the video. The suspect was traced, arrested and taken into custody for questioning. The operatives also recovered a firearm and a cutlass in his possession.”

The police further said early checks suggest the suspect may need professional medical assessment, and steps are being taken to ensure he receives the required evaluation.

The matter has now been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department in Awka for full investigation and review of the details gathered so far.

The police command also noted another recent arrest. On November 30, officers of the Ozubulu Division, working with the Ozubulu Central Vigilante, arrested a man identified as Emmanuel Osuigwe, described as a suspected member of a banned secessionist group. Ikenga said Osuigwe had earlier fled from a hideout in Ukpor, Nnewi South, after a dispute with other members.

He said the arrest followed increased surveillance and raid operations ordered by the Commissioner of Police, CP Ikioye Orutugu, across the state.
