The Adamawa State Police Command has arrested a 37-year-old woman, Fatima Abubakar, in Yola South Local Government Area for allegedly torturing two toddlers under her care.

The arrest followed reports from concerned neighbors who revealed the abuse.

The state police spokesperson, Suleiman Nguroje, confirmed the arrest on Monday. According to Nguroje, investigations showed that Fatima had abused the children because they urinated and defecated inside the house. The victims were a two-year-old girl and a young boy.

“Neighbours reported that Fatima, who has no children of her own, had a history of maltreating the children. She even denied them food and warned others not to interfere in her affairs,” said Nguroje.

After her arrest, Fatima confessed to the crimes. The Commissioner of Police in Adamawa, Morris Dankombo, has ordered that she be charged to court.
