The Nigeria Police Force arrested 23 suspected criminals across several states during Christmas celebrations.

Those apprehended included armed robbers, cultists, and hoodlums targeting fun seekers and engaging in gang-related activities.

The arrests were disclosed in a statement signed by the Force Public Relations Officer, ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, on Friday.

In Lagos State, police operatives responded to a distress call on December 25, 2024, around 1 a.m. about hoodlums armed with dangerous weapons terrorizing the Safejo area of Amukoko.

“The command’s swift response led to the arrest of three suspects: Emmanuel Okoli, Ogunde Tejiri, and Emmanuel Orji,” Adejobi stated.

In Kaduna State, operatives from the Saminaka Division apprehended Sule Muhammad on the same day at about 8 p.m.

Adejobi revealed, “The suspect is linked to multiple kidnapping incidents in the Saminaka area. Further investigation led to the recovery of a fabricated AK-47 rifle from him. He confessed to being a member of a notorious kidnapping gang.”

The suspect had reportedly evaded capture since August 16, 2024, when other members of his gang were arrested.

The Nigeria Police Force emphasized its commitment to ensuring public safety during the festive season, adding that similar operations were conducted across the country to curb criminal activities.

The police urged citizens to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities promptly to authorities.
