Police arrest 22 suspects in connection with A/Ibom inspector’s murder
Akwa Ibom Police Command has arrested 22 suspects, including an alleged serial killer, linked to the recent murder of Inspector Usang Egbe and others by suspected cultists.
According to, the Police Public Relations Officer for Akwa Ibom State, SP Odiko Macdon, the arrests occurred between January 31 and February 2.
He sated ” Command will intensify its onslaught against criminal elements in the State, and perpetrators of heinous crimes will be brought to book.”
Among the key suspects is Emem Ime Friday, known as Barracks, who was apprehended by the Anti-Cultism Unit of the Command.
Emem Ime Friday is accused of masterminding the Inen Clan Cult War and orchestrating several gruesome murders.
Macdon disclosed, “In 2022, he orchestrated the gruesome murder of Inen Clan Youth President, one Hezekiah Adaidem, beheaded him, severed his manhood and fled to Rivers State. In 2020, he allegedly murdered Ufot Unwana on August 8th, Udeme Unwucha, Okon Ubok Udom on 16th September and Ntiedo Sambo, Eferemfon James and Gilbert Akpan on 24th November of the year.”
Emphasizing the significance of the arrests, Macdon highlighted, “The major avenue, source of leakage, where we used to have supervisors carry these question papers from one point to the other will no longer obtain. When I say leakage, I mean the tearing of the bag containing the examination questions and sneaking out one. So, with this new concept, this will never happen.”
In a separate incident, Emmanuel Francis Daniel, aged 33, was arrested for the killing of Pastor Emmanuel Jimmy Udoh.
The pastor, affiliated with Jesus Power Ministry, was shot to death in the church. Efforts are underway to apprehend other suspects still at large.
