The Kano State Police Command has arrested 11 students of Government Boarding Secondary School, Bichi, over the killing of two fellow students.
The command’s spokesman, Abdullahi Haruna, confirmed the arrests to PUNCH Online on Thursday. He said the suspects are being questioned to find out how each of them was involved in the attack.
“Eleven students were arrested over the incident and the investigation is ongoing to find out the level of their individual involvement,” Haruna stated.
He assured that the police would ensure all those responsible for the deaths face the law.
The state Commissioner for Education, Dr. Ali Haruna Makoda, had earlier ordered a full investigation into the matter. The ministry’s Permanent Secretary, Bashir Bappa Mohammad, delivered the directive during his visit to the school on Wednesday.
The two victims, identified as Hamza Idris Tofawa and Umar Yusuf Dungurawa, were allegedly attacked by other students using sharp local metal tools known as Gwale-Gwale.
