The Kogi police command has apprehended a 100-level Biology student at the Federal University Lokoja in Kogi State, identified as Jeremiah for killing a female colleague named Damilola.
Jeremiah, who is from Kaduna State, after leading police officers to a bushy area where he had buried Damilola confessed to killing her after kidnapping her and collecting ransom from her family.
According to Jeremiah, he abducted her and took her to an uncompleted building in a deserted area. He demanded N400,000 from her family, and after they paid the ransom, he ended her life.
In a video recorded by the police, it was mentioned that Damilola’s genitals were cut off, but Jeremiah denied mutilating her body. When asked why he killed her after collecting the ransom, Jeremiah said, she had already seen my face, so he didn’t want her to escape and expose him. He admitted to strangling her.
After killing Damilola, Jeremiah contacted her family again, demanding an additional N10 million. However, police were able to track him down and arrest him. When questioned about an accomplice, Jeremiah confessed that he acted alone.
