The Niger State Police Command has arrested ten suspects in Minna and Kontagora for alleged involvement in criminal acts and unrest.

Police spokesman, SP Wasiu Abiodun, said in a statement on Saturday that weapons and hard drugs were recovered during the operations.

He said officers from the ‘A’ Division in Kontagora raided the Tudun-Wada area on October 23, arresting three suspects — Abdullahi Abdullahi, 22, Fahad Abubakar, 19, and Nasiru Aliyu, 28.

“They were found with a large quantity of marijuana, two knives, and a military camouflage trouser,” Abiodun stated, adding that investigations were ongoing.

He said operatives from the Central Police Station in Minna also raided several criminal hideouts, including Angwan Sarki, Kuta Road, Sabon-Gari, Ogbomosho, Baida, and Makera, leading to the arrest of seven others.

Those arrested were identified as Hamza Dauda, 28, Hussain Sanda, 25, Sani Hassan, 22, Danlami Garba, 25, Saidu Hassan, 19, Musa Umar, 21, and Hassan Usman, 25.

Recovered items included marijuana, shisha pipes, and other intoxicating substances.

Abiodun said the suspects were charged to court on October 24, adding that the police had intensified raids on identified hotspots to maintain peace in the state.

He urged residents to remain alert and report suspicious movements to security agencies.
