Police arraign Ekiti man over alleged N1.15m fraud

The Ekiti State Police Command has arraigned a 55-year-old man, Fadumila Ayodele, before a Chief Magistrate’s Court sitting in Ado-Ekiti over an alleged felony involving obtaining money under false pretences.

The prosecutor, Inspector Akinwale Oriyomi, informed the court that the defendant, on November 3, 2025, at about 10am in Ado-Ekiti, allegedly conspired with others still at large to defraud one Barrister Timmy Omotosho of the sum of N1,150,000.

Inspector Oriyomi told the court that the alleged offence contravenes Sections 421 and 329 of the Criminal Law of Ekiti State, 2021, and is punishable under the same provisions.

Counsel to the defendant, Barrister Oluwafemi Alabi, pleaded with the court to grant his client bail.

In his ruling, the Chief Magistrate, Abayomi Adeosun, admitted the defendant to bail in the sum of N500,000, with two sureties in like sum.

The court further ordered the defendant to pay the disputed money within two weeks and adjourned the case until January 30 for hearing.
