A 24-year-old prostitute, Favour Danladi,on Wednesday appeared in a Mararaba Upper Area Court, Nasarawa State, for allegedly stealing a phone.
Danladi of no fixed address is facing a charge of theft.
The Prosecutor, Cpl. Donald Herman, said that Osuman Zakari of Federal Housing, Nyanya, Abuja, reported the matter at the ‘A’ Divisional Headquarters, Mararaba, on May 11.
Herman said at about 10:21 p.m., the complainant was in Ibiza Hotel, Mararaba, with the defendant as they were discussing, she made away with his handset valued N21,000.
He said that the defendant after stealing the phone, disappeared to unknown destination, but later, she was traced and arrested.
The prosecutor said the offence contravened Section 288 of the Penal Code.
The defendant pleaded not guilty to the one-count charge.
The presiding officer, Mr Vincent Gwehemba, admitted the suspect to bail in the sum of N100,000 with one surety in like sum.
Gwehemba said that the surety must reside within the court’s jurisdiction and produce two recent passport photographs.
He adjourned hearing in the matter till May 31
