President Muhammadu Buhari on Thursday visited Lagos State to inaugurate the newly built Ikeja bus terminal and also to attend the 10th Bola Tinubu’s Colloquium at the Eko Hotels, Victoria Island.
The President was seen waving at the cheering crowd as he was accompanied by Lagos State Governor, Akinwumi Ambode at the venue of the event.
It is worth mentioning that majority of Lagos residents were not among the crowd seen waving and charing at the President in the pictures that emerged on the internet.
The average Lagosians without political interest and affiliation took the fall for this alleged historic visit of the president to the state.
Residents woke up this morning and remembered to put their legs to effective use as the major roads connecting the mainland to the island were blocked on the order of the governor. Most residents trekked to their place of businesses and offices this morning, a situation many of them lamented and blamed the governor’s overzealousness.
Residents stood under the scorching sun because they were not allowed to use the Pedestrian bridge and when one them asked why she was beaten and harassed by a female police officer.
Notable Nigerians like Prince Adelaja Adeoye, who is the spokesperson for Action Democratic Party said the invitation of President Buhari by Governor Ambode was uncalled for and wasteful.
Adeoye said it is rather low on the part of the governor to invite the President to commission a ‘mere bus park’ and even went as far as declaring a public holiday for that. He described it as “wasteful and unnecessary.”
Below are five pictures and video to show the stress residents were subjected to this morning:
