Super Falcons defender, Ashleigh Plumptre, has raised concerns over fake social media profiles impersonating her after a false online post claimed she had been left out of Nigeria’s squad for the upcoming Women’s Africa Cup of Nations.

The defender revealed that several accounts have been using her name and identity to share inaccurate information, including a verified Facebook page that falsely claimed she was removed from the national team selection.

Plumptre clarified that she does not operate an active Facebook account and warned supporters against believing posts from profiles claiming to represent her on the platform.

“There’s been a lot of cases of people trying to impersonate me, taking my name and saying things,” Plumptre said.

She also disclosed that another fake Facebook account has been deceiving users by promising financial rewards while pretending to be connected to her. She described the claims as completely untrue.

“There’s currently a Facebook account promising people money and it has not been taken down and it’s just not true,” she added.

The Super Falcons star explained that she created a personal Facebook account several years ago but has since stopped using the platform.

She advised fans who want authentic updates about her activities to follow her official Instagram account, while noting that she only occasionally uses X, formerly known as Twitter.

Her warning comes amid increasing cases of fake profiles targeting athletes, celebrities and public figures. Plumptre urged supporters to confirm information through verified sources before accepting online claims as genuine.
