The 29-year-old man who raped a three years old girl in Ifetedo, Osun State blamed the act on a spell.
Adeyele Olusesan said this when he was paraded by the state Commissioner of Police, Johnson Kokumo, in Osogbo on Thursday.
Olusesan begged for mercy and told newsmen that his head became clear after he had committed the act.
The printer said despite the victim’s painful screams he could not stop until he defied her.
He added that he was a first-time offender.
He said,
“I was supposed to be at work on the said day, but the man who engaged us said there was no money to fund the trip, so I stayed back at home. I actually cannot explain what came over me. It was after I got through with her that I realised what I did was wrong.
“She was crying while I was doing it but I just don’t can’t feel any pity while it lasted. I didn’t even know what I felt throughout the moment”.
Parading the suspect, Kokumo said the complainant, a woman friend of the suspect, left her daughter with Adeyele sometimes in
February 2020, adding that on arrival from the farm, she discovered that the girl had been defiled.
The police commissioner said,
“When the mother returned from the farm, she noticed that the victim was bleeding. Upon receipt of the complaint, police swung into action and arrested the suspect who confessed to the crime during the course of investigation.
“The victim was taken to hospital for medical examination and treatment where she is still receiving treatment as the medical examination reveals that there was extensive laceration into the rectum. The suspect will be charged to court after completion of thorough investigation.”
