A social media user has withdrawn accusations previously made against Nollywood actress Eniola Badmus, conceding that the claims were unfounded and unsupported by evidence.

The individual, who had earlier alleged that the actress was involved in exploitation and pimping, released a public statement online expressing remorse and acknowledging that the allegations were false.

In the statement, the user admitted that the post caused harm and should not have been shared.

“I sincerely apologize to Ms. Eniola Badmus, her family, friends, fans, and everyone affected by my recent tweet. The post accusing her of exploitation, linking young girls to movie and political figures, and pimping was wrong, irresponsible, and made without evidence. I deeply regret spreading such damaging and false information.”

The apology follows a firm denial from Badmus, who refuted the accusations and cautioned that legal action could be pursued, describing the claims as entirely false.

The development has sparked renewed debate over defamation and the risks associated with circulating unverified information on social media platforms.

Legal professionals continue to emphasize that making and publishing allegations without substantiating evidence may lead to significant civil and criminal liabilities under Nigerian law.
