Former Big Brother Naija star, Josephine Otabor, popularly known as Phyna, has accused the Dangote Group of negligence and insensitivity over the death and burial of her sister, Ruth Otabor.

In a series of posts on Instagram, Phyna claimed her sister’s death was not only tragic but “well calculated and planned.” She alleged that the company failed to fulfill its public promise of covering all medical and burial costs.

According to her, Dangote Group only cleared hospital bills at Lagoon Hospital in Lagos while her family paid additional expenses incurred in Auchi and Irrua.

“The bills from Auchi down to Irrua were covered by the family; no refund has been made,” she lamented.

Phyna further alleged that on September 13, the day of Ruth’s burial, attempts to reach officials of Dangote Group were ignored.

“On Sept 13th, the day of burial, Dangote groups did not pick up all calls made to them from us, as we were told the bills were not paid, but they claim it was,” she wrote.

She also shared a letter reportedly drafted by the Dangote Group and sent to her father, demanding him to sign an acknowledgment of receipt regarding burial expenses.

Reacting angrily, Phyna accused the company of impersonating her father, saying the family should have been allowed to prepare such a document themselves.

“This letter that was sent to my dad this evening is really paining me. Dangote Group, you killed my sister, did massive PR, gave the girl’s papa money for burial, then still by yourself wrote an acknowledgement letter impersonating my father and sent it to him to sign,” she said.

She added that the move showed a deliberate attempt to control the story after the burial.

“If you needed an acknowledgement letter or receipt for the funds you sent for the burial, you would have kindly asked for it from the family. Why typing as my dad? And sending it to him to sign,” she questioned.

The reality star warned that such treatment was unacceptable, adding, “This should never happen again. If you need something, you ask. Since you can type the letter for us, that means a lot of papers you were asking for while the girl was alive, you would have been able to type them then. Right now, it seems everything was well calculated.”

As of the time of filing this report, Dangote Group had not issued an official response to Phyna’s allegations.
