Since talks about Boko Haram began in Nigeria circa 2002, the whole of Borno State in the northern part of Nigeria has been wrongfully labelled by many as a warzone by many.
True, a lot of pain, sorrow, grief and death have occurred in the state, but there are still happy people there too. Some residents of the state have taken it upon themselves to show the bright side of things in the northeastern state.
Leading the pack of those telling stories of the bright side is 30-year-old photographer Fati Abubakar.
She documents the lives people of the state with the determination to show the world that life continues despite years of violence in the state.
using hashtags like #UntoldStoriesOfTheNorthEast #CampaignAgainstViolentExtremism and others like that, hundreds of photos have been shared that would keep hope alive in the state.
