PHOTOS: Wema Bank names Davido as brand ambassador after N250m donation

Weeks after raising N250 million from friends and associates, singer David Adeleke popularly known as Davido has been officially named as an ambassador for Wema Bank.

The artiste made the announcement via his Instagram story on Friday, while sharing photos and videos of his unveiling event at the bank’s headquarters in Lagos.

Officials from Wema Bank had trailed the singer to the United Arab Emirates for a crucial meeting, following the millions that flooded his account on the eve of his birthday.

The singer had jokingly solicited funds on his social media pages, saying that anyone who he had given hit songs should send him cash, after which he posted his account details online.

Initially he said the money would go into clearing his Rolls Royce at the port, setting the target at N100M.

”If u know I’ve given you a hit song .. send me money …. una know una selves oo”, the DMW boss tweeted.

Davido later donated to charity all the N201million he received from fans and friends.

He added N50million of his own, to raise the total charity donation to N251 million.

All the money, he said will go to orphanages across Nigeria.

In a recent post, Davido shared a video of the moment he signed the endorsement deal with the bank and captioned it, ”Officially with @wemabank @alat_ng”
