The Crown Prince of Benin, Eheneden Erediauwa, yesterday left Usama palace for Use to choose a title which is to be announced on coronation day.
The Crown Prince is expected to go back to Usama via Isekhere to Urhokpota ground for his coronation ceremonies scheduled for Thursday.
He chose the tittle at the Palace of the Edingin N’Use after playing the akhue game. His arrival sparked uncontrolled joy among the people of Use. The crowd was entertained by a popular Benin traditional singer known as Eretio, who played the Benin guitar known as (akpata).
Rainmakers were seen displaying traditional powers to halt the rain from disturbing the occasion, while another man was busy blowing akeni (elephant tusk) as the Prince walks by in Use. The elephant tusks according to him are over two hundred years with historical events inscribed on each.
The people displayed the flag of the Benin kingdom, which was allegedly carted away by British soldiers in 1897. The original flag is currently at the National Maritime Museum in Greenwich.
