Members of the Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities (SSANU) Western Zone, on Monday, staged a peaceful protest at the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta over the sack of 23 of its members.
The aggrieved workers shut down activities in the institution following the sack of members of SSANU, namely; Lasun Somoye, Abdusalaam Sobbor, E.A. Bankole and ten other executive members in the school. Others include five staff of the school, three medical doctors as well as two health workers.
It was gathered that the laid off staff were accused of petitioning the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) over allegations of fraud in the institution.
The protesting members are therefore calling for the immediate reinstatement of the sacked workers.
Recall that the Governing Council of the institution on Thursday last week, sacked 18 members of staff of the institution.
