Protesters in Aluasa today

Hundreds of protesters on Monday morning stormed the Lagos House in Alausa, Ikeja, protesting the 7-day eviction order handed down to them by the Lagos State Government to leave their slums in Badagry water front.

The protesters, who are mostly fishermen and slum-dwellers, barricaded the main entrance with their nets and other fishing equipments, saying they would not leave until they see Governor Akinwunmi Ambode.

We learnt they had arrived at the front gate of the Lagos House as early as 9am.

It was gathered that despite attempt by the Commissioner of Police to address the protesters, the protesters remained adamant, instead they were chanting, “We want to see Ambode”.

Sources informed that due to the presence of the protesters that Governor Ambode had to take another route to leave the government house.
