Photos: The National Assembly complex lawmakers plan to renovate with N37bn
Some recent photos of the National Assembly complex, which lawmakers plan to renovate with N37 billion, have revealed that the facility is still in good shape and may not such a huge amount for a renovation.
The legislators had said that some parts of the complex were leaking and old, prompting the need for N37bn to renovate the complex.
A few weeks ago, the President, Major General Muhammadu Buhari (retd.), approved the funds for the lawmakers.
The approval has sparked outrage on social media as many Nigerians criticised Buhari and the lawmakers and said such amount is too much for the renovation of the NASS complex.
Some lawmakers from the House of Representatives have also condemned the approved fund, saying the NASS does not need such huge amount to renovate the Assembly complex.
However, while justifying the renovation, the leadership of the National Assembly had claimed that the building has never been renovated since 1999 but contrary to such claim, SaharaReporters reports that the complex had undergone renovation and expansion running to several billions of naira in the past.
