Nigerian travel content creator, Alma Asinobi, has made history by completing a record-breaking journey across all seven continents with her Nigerian passport, celebrating the Nigerian flag as the first and fastest to reach every continent.
After 71 hours, 26 minutes, and 25 seconds of continuous travel, Asinobi landed in Sydney on Sunday, having carried the Nigerian flag across Antarctica, South America, North America, Europe, Africa, Asia, and finally, Australia.
Marking the milestone in an Instagram post on Tuesday, she wrote, “Our Nigerian flag is officially the first and fastest flag to visit all 7 continents! I guess my work here is done. I cannot wait to be homeeeee.”
Her journey was not without obstacles, as she faced visa restrictions, flight delays, and travel limitations due to her Nigerian passport.
Asinobi recounted how she was denied boarding on her flight to Perth, Australia, which forced her to rebook a later flight to Sydney, delaying her final arrival.
Reflecting on the toll of her journey, she humorously described how exhaustion followed her even into her dreams.
“Gosh… Continent 8 (Dreamland) was kind to me. No visas needed, no flight needed, just a bed. To be honest, any bed would have been fine. I just needed my swollen feet to not move for a few hours and all I can say is… mission accomplished,” she wrote.
She added that while sleeping, she imagined hearing a final boarding call, causing her to wake up in panic, only to realize it was a dream.
Although Asinobi did not surpass the Guinness World Record of 64 hours set by American veteran Johnny Cruz Buckingham, her achievement has sparked conversations about passport inequality and the challenges Nigerians face in global travel.
She now looks forward to her homecoming event on March 30, where she hopes to set another record by gathering Nigerians to sign the flag she carried across the world.
