Afghans and foreigners have been spotted making panic bank withdrawals in the capital city of Kabul as they flee for fear of the Taliban reign.
WuzupNigeriareported earlier that at least three Afghanistan stowaways fell to a horrific death from a United States military aircraft evacuating its personnel and citizens from Kabul after a number of people jumped aboard the outside of the plane on the runway in the Afghan capital.
Aljazeerareports that Taliban fighters entered the city on Sunday demanding the unconditional surrender of the central government, signalling the end of a 20-year Western experiment aimed at remaking Afghanistan.
There are also fears that the Taliban could reimpose the kind of brutal rule that eliminated women’s rights.
The women rushing to leave the country were seen in long queues at cash machines to withdraw their life savings.
The Taliban said it would soon announce the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan from the presidential palace, as Afghanistan’s embattled president fled the country on Sunday.
