PHOTOS: Fire guts Northwest university building in Kano

A fire outbreak on Thursday afternoon destroyed part of the Northwest University City Campus in Kano, affecting several academic offices.

The fire, which started on the 9th floor, was reportedly caused by an electrical spark.

Firefighters from both the Kano State Fire Service and the Federal Fire Service arrived quickly at the scene, managing to contain the flames before they could spread to other parts of the building.

The fire affected offices in the Information and Communication Technology (ICT) department, including those belonging to the Head of Department (HOD) and several lecturers.

Authorities have not yet released an official statement, and investigations are ongoing to determine the full cause of the fire.

Emergency responders remained on the scene to assess the damage and ensure the safety of students and staff.
