Popular Nigerian singer Folarin Falana, widely known as Falz, has given online commentator Martins Vincent Otse, also known as VDM, a 24-hour deadline to retract an allegedly defamatory statement against him.
In a three-page legal notice on Falz’s Instagram page on Wednesday, Falz demanded that VDM publicly retract the statement and issue an apology across all social media platforms.
VDM had previously accused Falz and his father, renowned lawyer Femi Falana, of bribing the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission to help Nigerian cross-dresser Bobrisky evade jail time, contradicting claims that Bobrisky had served six months in prison.
Falz firmly denied the allegations, stating that they were entirely false.
The letter, addressed to VDM, reads: “The entire publication was a vicious, wicked, and reckless attempt to damage our client’s reputation and lower him in the estimation of right-thinking members of the public.”
The legal notice further demands the immediate retraction of the “offensive and derogatory publication” and an apology prominently published on all platforms where the claim was disseminated.
