An unidentified young man was burnt alive on Wednesday, July 27, 2016 after he was accused of stealing a 3-month-old baby in a home in Gboko, Benue State.
According to reports on social media, the unnamed man allegedly stole a three month old baby from a house at Bristow round-about in the afternoon.
An eyewitness, who did not want her name to be mentioned, stated that, “We just heard the baby’s mother screaming ‘thief, thief’ and we came out only to see the boy running with the baby.
“Some boys in the area collected the baby and started beating him while the others were looking for tyre and calling more people to come out. He was begging and crying but the other boys did not listen.”
It was gathered that the incident caused traffic gridlock on a popular road which connects Benue state to Cross River state.
Unfortunately, there was no presence of policemen at the scene to rescue the suspect.
