The average retail price for a litre of petrol stood at ₦1,048.63 in December 2025. This represents an 11.81% reduction from the ₦1,189.12 average in December 2024. Compared to November 2025, the price fell by 1.20%.

Kogi State had the highest average petrol price at ₦1,104.45 per litre, while Oyo State was the cheapest at ₦996.55. Geopolitically, the North-East zone was the most expensive for fuel, while the South-West was the least costly.

The NBS data indicates a welcome decrease in essential energy costs for Nigerians, though prices still vary widely depending on location.
