Nigerian music star Peter Okoye has generated buzz on social media after announcing a change to the date he marks his birthday.

The singer made the disclosure in a post shared on Monday via his X (formerly Twitter) account, where he clearly informed fans of the development.

“I am officially changing my birthday date.

“I’m making it official. November 18th is no longer my birthday celebration date. Please note that I will not be accepting any messages or gifts on that day.

“My birthday will now be celebrated on November 30th. This is a personal decision, and I truly appreciate your understanding.”

He did not provide further explanation for the decision as of the time this report was filed.

The development comes amid a long-standing rift between Mr P and his twin brother, Paul Okoye.

Both artistes rose to fame as members of the now-defunct music duo P-Square, which dominated the African music industry throughout the 2000s and early 2010s with several hit tracks.

Tensions within the group became public around 2015, largely stemming from management disagreements involving their elder brother, Jude Okoye, who handled the duo’s business affairs. Disputes over royalties, creative direction, and family involvement further strained their relationship.

The group eventually split in 2017, with both brothers pursuing solo careers under the stage names Mr P and Rudeboy.

They reunited in November 2021 in a move that thrilled fans across Africa and beyond. However, reports later suggested that disagreements persisted, particularly over financial transparency, royalty sharing, and corporate structures linked to their music catalogue.
